This residency town with its unmistakeable flair was founded 700 years ago. Today it is a modern up-to-date city full of half-timbered buildings bursting with life and tradition. At Advent time the delightful old town of Celle looks particularly splendid. Amidst the colourful half-timbered facades the residency town of Celle conjures up all the excitement of Christmas. The bright Christmas lights create a festive atmosphere and the air is full of the aroma of spiced almonds, delicious mulled wine (Glühwein), fresh biscuits and other delicacies and treats. Grouped around the 14-metre "pyramid", market sellers offer a full range of seasonal goods at over 100 wooden booths.
